There’s no debating that we must foster and nurture future generations. Instilling important values into this group is key to creating the next generation of future leaders.
The city of New Rochelle has been spearheading this cause with the Strive Leadership Academy. The idea behind the program is to provide dance and positive youth development activities for boys and girls, 11 years old to 17 years old, in an effort to avoid youth violence, negative peer influences, and other risky behavior.
A strong component of the program is incorporating a healthy and active lifestyle.
The Studios at Pine Brook Fitness has partnered with the City of New Rochelle to incorporate fitness into this powerful program.
During the months of April and May, kids from all over New Rochelle came to The Studios and participated in weekly fitness challenges. Taking part in the COMPLETE Fitness Program, the kids experienced the COMPLETE Cardio class, rowing, jumping, and spinning their way to an incredible full body cardiovascular workout.
Next stop was an intense COMPLETE HIIT class where the kids enhanced their agility, footwork, and overall body balance. Jumping over mini hurdles, lots of squats, and the foot work ladder were just a few of the awesome activities.
The last stop in the program was getting to experience rock climbing and bouldering at The Rock Club at Pine Brook Fitness. With all honesty, this was the part of the program that garnered the most excitement.
Despite having no climbing experience, the kids had a blast scaling the walls and experiencing the satisfaction, joy, commradery, and powerful workout that rock climbing has become so well known for.
“The Strive Leadership Academy really enjoyed participating in all the fitness activities at Pinebrook Fitness.” stated Strive Program Coordinator Karina Cortez. “The family night was a huge success, seeing parents and their children both participate in the rock climbing was phenomenal. Peter and Valerie made this a great 5 week program and we will definitely be attaining their services in the near future.”
We look forward to bringing the Strive Program back to the Studios in the coming months!
