New Rochelle Racquet Club Celebrates 50+ Years
On April 7, the New Rochelle Racquet Club (NRRC) celebrated its 50th anniversary, bringing together members, staff, families, and community leaders to mark the milestone. The event highlighted the club’s lasting impact as a staple of the New Rochelle community for generations.

The ceremony was hosted by the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, with Executive Director Catherine White leading the program. Attendees included New Rochelle Mayor Yadira Ramos-Herbert, Congressman George Latimer, Deputy Commissioner of Economic Development Jorge Ventura, City Council Representative Al Tarantino, and NRRC leadership, including Managing Partner Blake Stuchin and his Mother Marcy Stuchin, along with other distinguished guests.
The event opened with remarks from community leaders, recognizing the club’s role in shaping both recreational and social life in the area.
“50 years later and [The New Rochelle Racquet Club] turned out to be an anchor in both recreation and athletics….something that makes New Rochelle very proud,” Congressman Latimer said. “I left Mount Vernon to live elsewhere in the county, we thought, boy, we’d really like to have something like this in our town. And I bet there’s a lot of towns that wish they had this.”
“My grandchildren play on these courts now,” Marcy Stuchin started,”For over five decades, this club has been the backdrop for birthday parties, tournaments, friendships, and countless ordinary days that have become lasting memories for other families.”
“The real measure of this club is not in any of those numbers… it’s in the generations, in the families that have made [it] a part of their lives year after year,” Blake Stuchin explained. He continued, “What excites me most is not just what we’ve built—it’s how we continue to grow.”

As NRRC reflects on more than 50 years of history, our focus remains on continued growth and serving the local tennis community. From youth programs to multi-generational membership, we aim to continue to play a central role in bringing people together through the sport and community of tennis.
We are forever thankful to the members, staff, and families who have supported NRRC over the years and looks forward to continuing that legacy for decades to come.
